PUCRS Entrepreneurship and Innovation Laboratory wins silver at the “Oscar” of Innovation in Education

The Interdisciplinary Laboratory for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Idear) at PUCRS was awarded as one of the best projects in the world at the Reimagine Education Awards, considered the “Oscars of Educational Innovation”. Idear won silver in the Developing Emerging Skills & Competencies category.The award recognizes projects focused on developing essential skills such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, problem-solving, and student leadership through entrepreneurial education. The award received 1.600 projects from 110 countries, evaluated by a jury of approximately 130 international experts. 

The ceremony took place this Tuesday (2), in London and the Pro-Rector of Undergraduate and Continuing Education at PUCRS, Professor Adriana Kampff, received the award. “It is a great recognition. It values ​​the initiatives and results of Idear, which is a vector of social development,” she celebrates.  

The vice-rector also highlights that, in a decade of operation, the laboratory has supported professors and students in building solutions with an impact on people’s lives.

“We work on engaging with diverse social actors, developing ideas, identifying problems, selecting resources and methodologies, creating innovative solutions, and connecting with other driving forces so that these initiatives can become social impact businesses.” Explain.  

The coordinator of Idear, Ana Cecília Bisso Nunes, pointed out that the entrepreneurship and innovation laboratory transcends the creation of businesses.

“This award consolidates a trajectory that integrates different areas of knowledge to innovate and generate impact. Here we develop entrepreneurial skills always connected to each person’s purpose and commitment to social impact.” he affirms 

Promoted by QS Quacquarelli Symonds, The award is one of the most prestigious global distinctions dedicated to transformation in education. “This recognition celebrates the strength of our community and PUCRS’s commitment to an education that transforms and integrates the University, society, businesses, government, and the environment,” concludes coordinator Ana Cecília.

The Director of Undergraduate Studies at PUCRS, Denizar Melo, also emphasizes that Idear has been essential in reimagining undergraduate education at the university.

“The laboratory not only transforms the way of teaching and learning, but also inspires a comprehensive education that unites the seven schools of PUCRS, develops skills for life and connects the university to the world.” closes.
